Perspectives is Vivre Wire’s home for analytical essays, expert commentary and long-form interviews. If you have a well-argued idea about Nigerian life, policy, business, technology or culture, we want to hear it.
What we look for
Perspectives is where Vivre Wire publishes ideas. We want writing that makes a clear argument, backs it with evidence, and helps readers understand something they care about.
- A clear point of view that a reader can summarize in a sentence.
- Evidence: data, documents, first-hand experience or named sources.
- Expertise or lived experience that gives you a real basis to write on the subject.
- Relevance to readers in Nigeria and across Africa.
- Plain language. Write for an intelligent general reader, not only specialists.
What we publish
- Essays
- Argued pieces of about 800 to 1,500 words on policy, business, technology, culture or society.
- Commentary
- Sharper, shorter reactions of about 500 to 900 words to a current development.
- Interviews
- Long-form conversations and profiles with industry and civic leaders. Pitch a subject and tell us why they matter now.
- Data-led analysis
- Pieces built on original or well-sourced data, with charts or tables where they help.
How to pitch
Send your pitch before you write the piece. It saves you time and gives us a chance to shape it with you.
- Email us. Write to newsroom@vivrewire.com with the subject line “Pitch: “.
- Describe the piece. In 150 to 300 words, give your argument, why it matters now, why you are the right person to write it, and the length you have in mind.
- Show your work. Add a short bio and links to one or two published pieces, if you have them.
- Wait for our reply. We aim to respond within ten working days. Please do not send a full draft unless we ask, and do not pitch the same idea elsewhere while you wait.
What we do not accept
- Pieces that attack individuals or groups without evidence, or that stereotype people by faith, ethnicity, gender or social status.
- Promotional content presented as opinion. If you want to pay for exposure, see Advertise with us.
- Work that has been published elsewhere, or that is plagiarized.
- Text or images produced by AI and presented as your own work.
If we accept your pitch
- An editor will work with you on the draft. Every piece is fact-checked, so keep your sources and be ready to share them.
- You will be asked to disclose any financial, political or personal interest in the subject. We may publish that disclosure with your piece.
- Vivre Wire offers competitive, agreed rates for commissioned Perspectives essays based on research scope and depth.
- Vivre Wire asks for first publication rights, with the author retaining ongoing copyright.
- Our Editorial Policy and Corrections Policy apply to all contributed work.
