Corrections Policy

We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix them quickly, tell you what changed, and say why.

What we correct

We correct mistakes of fact, such as wrong names, titles, figures, dates and places, as well as misquotes, misattributed statements, misleading headlines or captions, and important missing context that changes how a story reads.

We may fix small typographical or formatting errors that do not change meaning without a note.

How to report an error

Email corrections@vivrewire.com with:

  • the link to the story, or its headline and date
  • the exact statement you believe is wrong
  • what you believe is correct, and any evidence such as documents, links or official records
  • your name and how to reach you (optional, but it helps us follow up)

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge your message. We aim to reply within two working days.
  2. We check the claim. The reporter and an editor review the original sources and the evidence you sent. We may contact you or others for more information.
  3. We decide and reply. If we agree there is an error, we correct it. If we do not, we explain why. If the answer is not clear-cut, we may add context instead.
  4. We publish the correction. The story is updated and marked, and we tell you when it is done.

How corrections appear

We never change published facts silently. Every change is marked on the story with the date, and our notes use plain labels:

Correction
We got a fact wrong. The note states what was wrong and what is correct.
Clarification
The story was accurate but unclear or missing context. The note adds it.
Update
New information has emerged since publication. The note says what is new and when it was added.
Retraction
A story fails our standards so badly that it should not stand. We remove or replace it and explain why.

Where an error was significant, we also note it where the original story was promoted, such as our social media accounts or newsletter.

Right of reply and removal requests

If a story about you or your organization is unfair or incomplete, tell us at the same address. We may publish your response, add it to the story, or both.

We do not remove accurate stories from the record because they are unwelcome. In rare cases, such as a threat to someone’s safety or a legal requirement, we will consider changing or removing content. The Editor-in-Chief makes that decision.
